In an exciting move that takes Haringtons Salons international and brings the group to 20 in number, Haringtons continued commitment to its expansion programme has resulted in them purchasing the majority share-holding of one of South Africa’s leading groups of hair salons – Johannesburg based salon chain Dave and Johan.

The Dave and Johan group, founded in 1972 by Johan Kempen, has an established clientele and an enviable reputation as market leaders in South Africa. They also have a really strong artistic team and won the South African L’Oreal Colour Trophy in 2002. Kempen, who will be heading up the project in South Africa said “This merger is going to take our company to even greater heights in this country and internationally. I am very proud to be associated with Haringtons, they are a highly professional company that shares my personal standards and visions.”

“It is such an exciting time for everyone” said Haringtons Director Robert Smith “we are the first UK hair group to invest in South Africa and the Dave and Johan group is a great match for us, their commitment to quality and creativity will make the merging of our two businesses seamless” he added. “This business development, the first of our International partnerships, also means fantastic opportunities for stylists in both countries and for our Artistic Teams. In fact we are already planning Seminars and shows for the South African team in early Autumn as well as a series of Seminars for L’Oreal South Africa” concluded Smith.

L’Oreal Professionnel, South Africa, is equally positive about the merger and the opportunities and advancements it will bring. Hesham Motan, General Manager, L’Oreal Professional Product Division says “This is a most exciting development in the South African Hairdressing Industry and shows confidence in the standards and professionalism of Dave and Johan!”
