A team from Haringtons salon in Marlow has been named as the winner of this year’s L’Oréal Men’s Image Award, the most coveted award in men’s hairdressing, which recognises outstanding hairdressing skill, creativity and awareness of fashion trends.

At the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final 2006, which took place at the fashionable Old Billingsgate Market in London on May 8th, Haringtons battled it out with eight other Grand Finalists competing in the men’s category at the final stage of this prestigious contest.

The winning team from Haringtons, stylist Matt Slegg and colourist Alex Scanlon, created a total look that matched the brief to create ‘Hair Inspired by Fashion’. Judges were looking for a fusion of hair and fashion that reflected the trends of Autumn/Winter 2006/07.

Alex said: “It’s amazing to win this award. We are over the moon and so excited about all the things we’ll be doing as part of our prize. We’re off to New York and get to shoot a photo-spread for Vogue. We loved competing, but winning is even better!”

The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final 2006 is the pinnacle of a hotly contested national competition, with over 50-years history of identifying British hairdressing’s stars. Over 1,000 salon teams entered, 350 Regional Finalists were short-listed; with 45 Finalists selected to compete at the Grand Final.

Hosted by the glamorous Kate Thornton, the Grand Final was a spectacular occasion. There were stunning hair shows as well as an exclusive catwalk show by Central Saint Martins MA Fashion Graduate Molly Grad, presenting her Autumn/Winter collection.

In addition to the incredible prestige of scooping a top award at the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards, the team from Haringtons win the biggest prize in UK hairdressing worth thousands of pounds. It includes a professional shoot in a London studio, an amazing trip to New York and an opportunity to shoot a photo-spread for fashion bible Vogue.
