hair colour

As previous winners of the UK’s most prestigious hair colour competition – The L’oréal Colour Trophy – our own specialist technicians are confident and informative on every area of hair colouring.
Hair Colour is a very personal service, so at Haringtons hair salons we train our staff to the highest skill level, and then together we discuss the colour and techniques that will most suit your personal style.
Hair colouring is popular for all ages groups, from teenagers sporting crazy coloured streaks, to adults recapturing their sun-kissed highlights of youth, or simply erasing a few years by covering some unwelcome grey.

Foil Highlights – the best technique for varied tone

Foil Highlights – (or hi-lites) are an essential and creative tool for the skilled colour technician. Each foil is placed, with varying degree of width and volume, and in a wide range of tones and shades, the result is as unique as you.
Flecks – provides up to 8 foils and is perfect as a taster of colour or as an accent in one area of your hair (i.e. a fringe or parting). They can be woven or sliced, dramatic or subtle – depending on the effect you require. A few well-placed foils can also brighten up your existing colour.
Partial foils – refers to anything less than a full head of foils. An open-ended phrase that generally means the crown area, parting or front hairline. They are incredibly versatile and the foils can be woven, sliced or sections of hair coloured randomly whatever your wardrobe suits.
Full foils – create an all-over effect of high-lighted hair that can be woven or sliced, depending on the effect you require. It can be as natural or as bold as you would like it. You can add in as many colours as you would like to create a feeling of naturalness or it can be as big as your imagination.
Framing – placement of foils around the face to add brightness or for dramatic effects to emphasis a haircut.
Low lights -are like highlights with a major exception…instead of removing colour, hair colour is used to add tone or depth to washed out ends or simply adding darker strands. -
full Colour Change & Regrowth / Roots

A complete change of colour can produce dramatic and stunning results, or it may be used just to cover grey hair, or to enliven your own natural shade with better colour depth and shine.
colour change – is a permanent hair colour that is applied by our technician on small sections of hair. Starting at the root they will ensure even and extensive coverage to achieve a perfect result. Our extensive colour chart offers a massive choice of shades (depth of colour) and tones (balance of tint colours).
Regrowth (or roots) – top up your full-head colour previously applied. Not only does it cover natural-colour new growth, but it also adds renewed colour depth and shine so that your hair looks in great condition.

Fashion Techniques

Hair colouring has been revolutionized over the past decade by new techniques and technology. These are just some of the many methods we use to create beautiful colour transformations.
Glossing – is a superb way to give your hair masses of shine, and add intensity and depth to your colour. This semi-permanent hair colour contains conditioners that are gentle on your hair and can be used to camouflage grey hair or add depth, sheen and vibrancy to your hair colour, whether natural or already coloured Glossing will not lighten hair – it adds tone.
Panel colour – individual panels of hair are coloured using toning shades to give texture and emphasis to your haircut

Colour Correction & Fixing Hair Colour Problems
This is where the highly skilled Master Colour Technician (and we have them) is worth his or her weight in gold.
Changing your colour – is seldom as simple as applying a new shade over the top. If your hair has been coloured before you could have different shades at the ends because of sun light or frequent washing, there is likely to be root regrowth in your natural shade, and there could be a build-up of colour on the mid-lengths that is too dark. A change of colour under these circumstances means dealing with every part of the hair individually, using different shades and tones on each section.
Fixing imbalance and shade problems – can be as simple as dealing with highlights that are too yellow or removing darker bands where colour has been over-applied many times. This kind of problem is dealt with every day, in any one of Haringtons salons.
Dealing with Hair Colour problems – is a speciality of Haringtons – that’s why we are called Hair Colour Experts. Often these complex problems will require removing colour from some sections while adding to others. The technician will analyse every part of your hair to calculate the accurate mix of tones and shades to restore an overall colour.
If you have a hair colour problem – DO NOT worry, we have the experience, skills and techniques to help you.

Bored with your hair colour
Bored with your hair colour but not sure if it’s time for a change? Here are some signs that you need a hair-colour change.
1. Has your hair colour lost its shine?
A simple colour gloss treatment can restore shine brilliantly, not to mention leave hair soft and silky feeling.
2. Are you no longer getting compliments on your colour?
The reason this happens is when hair colour and skin-tone become too close causing hair colour to seem faded and skin to appear washed-out. Sometimes your stylist can add highlights or low-lights to restore depth and dimension.
3. When is the last time you tried anything new?
Instead of asking for the same shade and technique you don’t need a new haircut to make the change with a new hair colour, get inspired by asking our technicians for some new ideas!
4. Do you often wear your hair in a ponytail ?
While a constant ponytail is a sign you need a different haircut, it’s also a sign you could use a new colour. A new look will inspire you to wear your hair down and loose – and show off your stylish new hair colour!
