Here at Haringtons Hairdressing Group we predict we’ll all be wearing metallic fashion this summer after designers at the 2014 Paris Fashion Week wowed the world with this great look.
Designers Reem Acra, Altusarra and DVF all presented the metallic look on the catwalk this Spring. We saw liquid gold, shimmering silvers and daring bronze colours worn as mini shift dresses, skirts, tops, coats and dazzling jump suits.
Who can wear metallic fashion?
Whether it’s gold lame, a shiny silver or a muted bronze fabric, the key to mastering the metallic trend is to make it look expensive and opulent.
Bright and shiny metallics are a great look for teenagers and younger women who can enjoy this glamorous look from head to toe choosing from jumpsuits, dresses, trousers and tops.
Muted metallics work well for more mature women. Choose one key item to give an edge of sophistication to your look – a pair of trousers, a bag or shiny shoes perhaps.
Celebrities embrace the metallic look
Celebrities have been wearing the metallic look for some time now and the images featured here show that it can be worn as a day look or for a more glitzy evening style.
We love Ashley Roberts ‘ rock chick style with her slicked back hair and muted silver metallic dress by Manning Cartell. while Jennifer Lopez‘s Haute Hippie silver skirt manages to look both sexy and simple.
Katy Perry has been wearing metallic in different guises for years. We particularly love this figure-hugging metallic dress worn by Katy Perry in 2012. This is such a ‘look at me’ dress that you simply have to team it with a wild hairstyle and bold make-up!
If you think wearing metallic is simply too sexy for you, think again! Pixie Lott wears a striped metallic gold maxi dress by Temperley and still looks as cute as a button, while Ciara looks stunning in this glittering Emilio Pucci gown. She gets it just right by keeping her hairstyle sexy but simple.
If you feel a metallic-based outfit is just too much for you, take some inspiration from Anna Kendrick who looks stylish and on-trend with a beautiful Azzaro gown with pops of metallic here and there – check out her shoes and bag!
Metallic looks we love to hate!
Sometimes our favourite celebrities don’t quite get it right. What do you think?
Jennifer Lopez’s recent look on American Idol wearing a bronze Lanvin Shirt and Vivienne Westwood Skirt divided opinion, and we are not entirely sure that Kim Kardashian pulls off this Stephane Rollan plunge jumpsuit. We also think that Rita Ora looks looks older than her years in this Lanvin metallic green dress.
