Meet our new Creative Director

Richard Scorer.

With a career spanning over 38 years Richard Scorer joins us at Haringtons Hairdressing as our new Creative Director. Bringing his creative vision and dedication for the craft to our fantastic team, you will find him mentoring our talented stylists and technicians and delighting both new and existing clients with stunning cuts and a first class experience.

Richard is passionate about supporting and developing young talent, having faced the challenges of dyslexia and leaving school at just 15 years old. But he didn’t let this stop him, travelling the world and working with the biggest names in fashion. He stepped straight into Philip Sharon qualifying in 18 months, taking every opportunity he could to soak up his knowledge and experience in the industry.

“I spent days just standing and watching stylists in Vidal Sassoon, and even got moved on from standing outside Nicki Clarke’s”.

His inquisitive nature and determination saw him joining Haringtons in 1985 where, as part of our dynamic Art Team, they were awarded the accolade of Artistic Team of The Year at the British Hairdressing Awards.

Even Richard couldn’t have anticipated where his career would take him – from Fashion Week, working for British Vogue and styling commercial brand campaigns to transforming looks for Kate Moss - hairdressing can be anything and everything you want it to be!

We did a quick fire round with Richard to find out what he's really thinking, all things hair!:

What styles have you had on yourself that you loved?

I had a Mohican when I was younger – I fit right in on the streets of Camden.

Best thing about your job?

It’s not really a job because I enjoy it so much.

And your go-to hair tool…

A medium sized flat iron because it’s just so versatile, or flat butterfly clips. They’re such an underrated tool – all they need is a little time and they can set your hair rather than using product or heat.

Your favourite haircuts to do on other people?

It’s the ones where you make small changes that make all the difference – the other day I did a one-length bob and broke it up, making it more textured and extremely flattering for the client.

A hair trend you love…

Matte, beachy, touchable hair, that’s real!

And one you can’t wait to see the back of!...

Jelly fish extensions (where they are all on the bottom half of the head like a jelly fish!) or too many extensions – overdone, overworked…naff!

Celeb hair you adore…

It’s got to be Kate Moss. It’s touchable, approachable, natural and beautifully understated.

Richard is currently available for appointments in Beaconsfield & Marlow, get booked in today!
